THANK YOU so much for all your inquiries and prayers during the first half of this year. My oh my how time does fly and so has my quest to run a marathon event in all 50 states. At the time of this writing (July), I’m blessed to have successfully run in 49 states, including the District of Columbia. All that is left is Alaska, where I plan to run next month, completing my journey across the United States. In fact, since I’ve already been to Alaska, I can now say that I have traveled to each state comprising this great country of ours, keeping a detailed journal every step of the way. Now that this quest is coming to a close, many of you have asked what two words would I use to describe our nation. For me, that is easy. The two words are “beautiful” and “diverse.” Honestly, I had NO idea how blessed-filled and life-transforming this journey would be. I simply thought I’d run some fun races in some really cool cities, never expecting to experience such richness and warmth, literally everywhere I visited. From the breathtaking landscapes to the amazing friendships I’ve made along the way, this experience has granted me something that I will cherish and nourish for the rest of my days. How grateful I am to the Lord for granting me such an immense gift!
I have written a book proposal and pray to get my journal and many notes on this experience published. Several of you have inquired whether or not I plan to continue running now that I’ve covered the country, and the short answer is “absolutely!” I fully expect to still be running well past the age of 100, but clearly this experience will be hard to beat. I will post more details once I’ve completed my run in Alaska, but what is true today will be true next month as well: I am blessed to live in such a beautiful and diverse nation, and I am blessed to have seen it all – as a runner!
