I hope you watched Beyoncé perform with The Dixie Chicks on the CMA Awards last night. The song was “Daddy Lessons” written by Beyoncé and added to the playlist of The Dixie Chicks’ current tour. In short, it was phenomenal and by far the best performance of the night. Beyoncé was simply beautiful (as always) and it was SO good to see The Dixie Chicks performing on that awards show again. My oh my have I missed them!
Living in Nashville, it wasn’t hard to miss how much of the conservative talk radio crowd was all up in arms about the possibility of Beyoncé performing on the CMA’s, commenting that it would ruin country music as we know it. I can’t even begin to state how ignorant and trailer park that kind of talk is, especially given how much LOVE the country music artists themselves extended to these four wonderful ladies. When the cameras turned to the audience, everyone from Faith Hill to Trisha Yearwood to Kelsea Ballerini was on their feet, clapping and swaying in pure enjoyment of the outstanding music. Faith was even singing along (we love you Faith!).
Even prior to the performance on the red carpet, many artists were asked who they were most excited to see that evening and by far, the most named celebrity was Beyoncé. That is because the musicians, writers, artists, etc. who make a living in the country music genre, love and admire ALL talent, regardless of its origin. Only the ignorant who resent that they somehow failed to make a success of their own life would have anything negative to say about one of the best award show performances ever televised.
Way to go CMA’s. The entire show was fantastic but the icing on the cake was bringing to the stage two of the most dynamic and talented acts of all-time – Beyoncé and The Dixie Chicks! Woohoo!!
