I am so sorry I didn’t get to post a Merry Christmas greeting to all of you. It certainly was my intention to do so, but as many of you know, I had a major breakthrough causing the last two weeks to be very full (I’m never busy; busyness is nothing but the devil’s playground for you) and bless-filled. So please accept this greeting the day after Christmas with all the joy and love with which it is intended.
Yesterday was one of the best Christmas days I can remember! Starting the day off with my favorite scriptures honoring my Lord’s birth (Matthew Chapters 1&2, Luke Chapters 1&2, and Isaiah Chapters 7 & 9), the entire day was full of rejoicing and thanksgiving to my Lord and Savior. Nothing is ever better than spending quiet, personal, reflective time with the One that I devote my life to. Oh how grateful I am to know Him and to serve Him with every breath I take.
This year has been hard and deeply challenging in more ways than one, but Jesus has remained faithful to me and never left my side for one second. His continued love and care for me is overwhelming and that is why I simply cannot take my eyes off of Him. He is truly “Wonderful, Counselor, and Prince of Peace.”
With temperatures in the 70’s and plenty of sunshine to boot, several of us were able to take to the city streets and log in a easy run of 10 miles, before capping off the evening in one of my favorite private spots (sorry but if I tell you where, it will no longer be a best kept secret and I need it to stay that way) where worshipping the Lord is so filling, it literally leaves me speechless and fortifies that wonderful commandment of Scripture “Be still and know that I am God.”
It is so hard to let go of those private and special moments with Him and return to a world of computers, cell phones, and people running around in circles posting a million pictures of themselves on social media striving to acquire another 10 friends, all while trying to declare they aren’t into themselves (sound familiar anyone?.) Ugh, the very thought of such makes me ill, yet, that is the world in which we live and Jesus has separated me unto Himself in order to share the “Good News” of who He is through my actions, reactions, words, gestures, and quite simply, the very life I lead. What an honor!
I don’t know what you may be going through but I do know that God is faithful. He will NOT let you down although you will feel like that from time to time. I know folks, I’ve been there, and the only thing that keeps you afloat is God Himself. Stay immersed in His Word and cling to Him tightly. At whatever cost, do not let go of Him. And most importantly, don’t look to others (even though they may be saved) for rescue. While we are called to comfort one another and encourage one another, many of us do just the opposite and it is shameful. You must always keep your eyes fixed on Jesus and Jesus only; He is the Lord and He is the Savior.
In the coming year, I will post a series of scriptures and personal commentary concerning the true valley (not stuff like having Facebook go down for an hour or failing to get the handbag you wanted on sale – I’m talking true suffering and tribulation) and how God uses those trials to grow us up in Him. I promise it will be a source of inspiration and encouragement to anyone going through a time of struggle or difficulty.
Also, many of you have requested more health and fitness tips so I will start incorporating more of those helpful hints each month. And of course, I will keep the posts going regarding all the great acting performances, especially the first couple of months that I’ll be taking advantage of free viewings as a member of SAG-AFTRA in order to cast the best vote I can for the upcoming awards season.
So hang in there gang. God is still very much in control and He is worthy to be praised. This website will never cease to do so!
