Happy New Year Everyone!
For many of us, 2017 was a tough and complicated year that left in its wake a sense of weariness and frustration. If that is you, I have two words of encouragement for you: 1) You are not alone; I and many others share that pain with you, and 2) It is a new year that I believe will bring great blessing and prosperity for those who have endured.
As most of you know, for the past 20 years I have ushered in the new year at church. For me, it is essential to be in prayer for the Lord’s leading as a new year approaches. It helps me stay focused to what is important and provides me with the needed guidance necessary for my future.
This year I was particularly blessed by the message delivered by the pastor because it was as if he had interviewed me earlier that day and then tailored his sermon around my exact needs and concerns. Everything he said was pertinent to my growth in 2018 but one declaration stands out: Producing good fruit.
Toward the end of 2017, God allowed so many great things to take place in my life, aptly preparing the way for a wonderful start to 2018. I can’t tell you how much I’m looking forward to all the “new beginnings” that are in store for me this year. It has been a long time coming and I’m so thankful to have weathered the storm to see it all come to fruition. I am indeed a blessed woman.
And of course a big part of my “fruit” relates to good health and challenging fitness goals. I had an amazing season in 2017 with regard to my running and fitness and I expect 2018 to be even better. Moreover, this is a good time to thank all of you who have continued to support my book “Running My Way Across the USA” and I pray that you continue to do so.
Folks, there is no doubt about it, I am a very blessed individual. I’ve been given the amazing privilege to see every state of this beautiful country, to meet and even befriend some of the most influential and famous personalities of our time, and to be exposed to many places, people and cultures that have enriched my life tremendously. And in all these things, God has used them to help me touch lives in a positive way, a way that brings blessing. I pray that 2018 provides opportunity for much more of that ……and then some!
Lastly, I know it is cold outside but you can’t let that stop you from hitting your fitness goals. It is crucial to remain committed to achieving good health this year and finding creative ways to stay fully engaged. No half stepping folks – your health demands a commitment of 100% all day, everyday. Trust me, when it’s time to hit the beach this summer, you’ll thank me. 🙂
So stay connected to the Lord, read your Bible daily, meditate on His word (don’t forget to use your index cards – trust me, it helps) and stay committed to a clean diet and focused exercise routine (no less than 60 minutes daily) and watch all the good fruit you produce in 2018.
I am SO excited about this new year and the new “beginnings” that it will bring. I hope you are too.
Please keep your comments and questions coming. It is always so good to hear from everyone!
